How It Works

Simple, structured tutoring with clear goals and steady progress. Here’s what to expect from first contact to ongoing improvement.

Step-by-step

1

Quick enquiry

Tell us your child’s year level, the main challenge (reading, writing or maths), and your goal.

  • Year level + school (optional)
  • Main struggle + what you’ve noticed
  • What you want to improve first
2

First session check

We run quick checks and observation to find the exact skill gap (not just the topic). Then we choose one clear focus to start with.

  • Identify gaps and strengths
  • Pick the highest-impact next step
  • Set a clear, realistic goal
3

Weekly structure (what each session looks like)

Sessions follow a consistent routine so students feel calm, focused, and confident.

Review

Quick recap to lock in last week’s learning.

Teach

Explicit teaching with worked examples and small steps.

Practise

Guided practice, then independent practice with coaching.

Wrap-up

Short home practice + next-step plan.

4

Home practice (short + effective)

We keep practice simple. A small amount done consistently beats long worksheets that don’t get finished.

  • 5–15 minutes, 3–5 times per week (depending on age)
  • Targeted practice that matches what we taught
  • Clear instructions so students can do it with minimal help
5

Progress checks

Every few weeks, we check progress to make sure we’re building the right skills and not skipping steps.

  • Quick skill checks (not stressful “tests”)
  • Adjust the plan based on results
  • Clear updates on what improved and what’s next
6

Homework & school tasks (when needed)

If your child brings homework, we can help—but we still prioritise learning the method (not just finishing).

  • Homework support that teaches independence
  • Re-teach prerequisite skills if required
  • Build routines and study habits

Quick answers

How often should sessions be?
Most students make strong progress with one session per week plus short home practice. Some students benefit from two sessions per week during catch-up periods.
Can you help with homework even if it doesn’t match the plan?
Yes. We’ll support the homework, but we’ll also address the underlying skill gap so the homework becomes easier over time.
How will I know it’s working?
You’ll see improvements in accuracy, confidence, and independence. We also run quick progress checks and give clear updates on what’s improved and what we’re focusing on next.
